The Department of User Kansei Studies explores human sensibility (the ability to feel and experience) and introduces practical education to solve social problems and create individual and social satisfaction (wellbeing) through collaboration between different disciplines while utilizing Kansei. The aim is to nurture master’s and doctoral graduates with a bird’s-eye view and the ability to cross and integrate borders based on “Kansei.”

Admission Policy

We seek individuals with the following qualities and awareness of issues for admission to the master’s program:

Students should have a desire to solve problems related to their specialty in an interdisciplinary manner and return the results to society.

The applicant must have the desire to play a leading role in society.

Applicants should have the ability to think flexibly, possess basic communication skills, and a broad range of knowledge.

The applicant must have the ability to think flexibly, possess basic communication skills, and be broadly educated.

Furthermore, the following attitudes and qualities are required for admission to the doctoral program:

– The ability to summarize the findings collected in research and write logically.

– Possess the language skills required for communication.

– Have a strong desire to pursue research themes and autonomously promote research activities.

Graduates of the master’s program are expected to be active in the following fields:

Employees in the planning, development, and research departments of private companies trying to develop new businesses and products based on Kansei.

Civil servants and NPO employees who provide services that take sensitivity into consideration in government organizations and society.

Researchers at research institutes pioneering new research related to sensitivity and the mind.

Consultants, communicators, and journalists who make recommendations regarding users and Kansei.

Doctoral program graduates in this department are expected to be active in the following fields:

Developers of sensibility evaluation technology and product evaluation research and development in companies.

Planners and researchers involved in corporate marketing research and product planning.

Researchers for the research and planning of information services in medical, welfare, and educational fields, etc.

Educators or researchers at universities or public research institutions.
